Week ending 09.02.24
Chalk and cheese in comparison to last Friday. Gone from glorious to gory in a matter of days.
The start of the week was not too bad, Cool Hand Luke and King Kev started a small job moving an outlet pipe from a sewage treatment plant as the soakaway it was running into is starting to fail. Fortunately, the client had the foresight to sort something out before it was a complete failure and got permission from his farmer neighbour to put the outfall directly into a land drain running along by his fence. Considering the conditions they did a good job and came away with every one happy and smiling.
Brother Paul was playing with big boys toys. After pollarding a good quantity of trees and overhanging branches we called the tree munching guys in. approximately 100 tonnes of ground up tree later the pollarded trees and branches were no more.
With every one busy it gave Boss Man Chris a small window to try and catch up on some paperwork. I have to admit, sat opposite him during these times it is easy to see that paperwork is not his favourite part of the job, but alas it must be done. Now I am not saying that he was using any excuse to try and get away from me throwing questions, queries and trying to fill his diary, but if old mother Hubbard had called about water leaking out of her kettle, I would not have seen him for dust! Joking aside, we have been on call pretty much all week with blockages here and there and people phoning asking for miracles “NOW” please. We do try to move water but as far as we know it’s it only Moses who can do that by waving his hands!
Dillybob has had company over the past couple of days as the weather has given the lads a chance to play “rub the cultivator down, paint the cultivator”. By all accounts it was not the sort of job they would volunteer for everyday, ever, never! Still it needed doing and I have a clean shirt on so be a shame to get it all dusty. This gave Dillybob the perfect excuse to biscuit monster sorry, “just nip out” as he didn’t want to get in the way of the working party. I don’t want to say too much but he has managed to get his steps in this week.
Lads, just want to say many thanks for cracking on this week. Had a couple of rum jobs but you stuck at it and they are now done. Hope you all have a dam fine weekend and enjoy all you are doing and we will see you Monday to go play water once more. Till then, stay safe and stay smiley ????
